| I've officially moved my blog from LJ and Xanga to Blogspot.
x-posted from LJ...
Update: I've already moved to blogspot, but that's not to say that I'm canceling this one or never going to post here ever again. I
probably won't be making any Friends-Only Posts, let alone regular
posts at all for a while. For now, I'm saving it as an archive LJ.
Check back or I'll let you know if I make a post for some special reason. :]
Thanks!

| The following is probably the nicest and kindest conversation I've ever had with someone over a very long period of time. It's from Facebook, but I try to keep it in mind if I'm able to: Me: Oooh! I love all your new pictures!! You're so pretty I'm so envious ♥
Courtney: shush you. your face makes me smile because it's so awesome!
Me: Hehe, I'm glad it does, but I'm absolutely, sincerely serious.
Courtney: so was i. you are pretty & don't make yourself feel otherwise!
Me: Aww,
thank you. I'm not fishing for compliments or anything, but I do have
problems with that, so I really appreciate your encouragement ♥
This is Courtney. See what I mean?
100% Un-Photoshopped
When I was no longer in the Gifted Program in Grades 11 & 12, I slacked and took the University classes instead of the Enriched ones that I was expected to take. We
were in the same classes both years and I have to say that she was
definitely the highlight of them. Otherwise, they would have been
really plain, boring and, forgive me, Regular (Non-Gifted). However, I'll never, ever regret the choice I made.
It's not that she really drew attention to herself on purpose by acting like the class clown or rebel, but she always had something profound to say to me. She'd tell me about anything in her life, answer any of my very random and sometimes rather personal questions, without ever making me feel intrusive. She's popular, very sociable, which makes her very busy, as well; however, she never ignored me or made me feel awkward. On top of all of that, she's a great volleyball player and was also in an awesome band.
Even though we weren't exactly BFFs and everything, she was a lot of fun. She's probably the reason why I bother with Myspace at all. Courtney also introduced me to a lot of bands, such as Underoath and It Dies Today. I barely knew her but I did know of her since the first few days of Grade 9. I remember the first time she let me put her headphones on for a bit and it was the turning point in my interests in music. What I heard was I've Been Gone A Long Time by Every Time I Die. If you haven't heard it before, I really suggest you do, so you'll see what I mean. At the time, she had Lips Like Morphine by Kill Hannah on her Myspace page. I used to keep refreshing her page just to listen to that song over and over before I finally decided to download it. I still love that song.
Remember when I was trying to give away those two really restrictive movie vouchers? She's probably the only person who actually seriously considered it, bothered to reply and actually appreciated it. Really.
(I had messaged her on MSN about it earlier, but she wasn't there and I was genuinely surprised when she bothered to respond)
Courtney: i can't believe you were willing to offer me your free movie tickets. that's heart-warming.
what are you doing now? don't waste your talent just sitting around (not that i think you are). you've got to go to school & cure cancer or something!
Me: Haha,
well, they're Buy 1 Get 1 free coupons, only valid on Mondays and
expire March 28th. If you'd like them, you can pick up both of them =] Actually,
I am pretty much sitting around everyday. I don't do very much, but
it's a coincidence that you should mention it, because I started
crocheting today. Nope, no school for me, no great causes either. lol
How have you been?
What's really heart-warming is how concerned she really was about me around the time of my accident. While I was still in Shanghai, she misinterpreted what I had said and went to Markham-Stouffville Hospital to visit me, but they couldn't find my name in their directory. I'll bet she put up a fuss about that. When I returned, I was admitted there, but only briefly. She tried to visit me again, but by that time I had already left. I can't remember if she visited before I was admitted, but either way, it really showed that she cared.
What you see above is most certainly not superficial beauty - it shines through from her soul.

It's funny that I have different results with the same picture - only that one is brightened, but no other photoshop touch-ups added to it. | | |
